Steps in HydraFacial — Poughkeepsie, NY — Wellness and Skincare Medical Center

Antioxidant:

Antioxidants hold the key to skin cell defense and repair. These skin protectors fortify cells by trapping and containing free radicals and boosting cell function. They detoxify, and replenish the skin to revitalize and protect.

Peptide:

Are links of amino acid that boost collagen and elastin production. These age-refining superstars help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also helping to stimulate the body's natural antioxidant response.

Hyaluronic acid:

Is naturally produced by the body and gives skin its volume and fullness. A lack of hyaluronic acid can lead to a decrease in the elasticity of your skin. It has a low molecular weight, allowing hyaluronic acid to plump and deeply hydrate the skin like no other.

Vortex-Fusion:

Vortex Fusion serum delivery system is what sets the Hydra Facial MD apart from the other procedure. The multi-step treatment cleanses, evenly exfoliates and extracts and remove impurities and dead skin cell while at the same time replenishing vital nutrients including antioxidant, peptide and hyaluronic acid .

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  • What is a HydraFacial?

A HydraFacial is a medical-grade facial that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, and hydrates the skin. This multi-step treatment is designed to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin, while addressing specific concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and hyperpigmentation. The process involves a deep cleanse, a gentle acid peel, extractions using a suction tool, and the application of serums that are tailored to your skin's unique needs.

  • How is the HydraFacial different from a typical facial?

Unlike a traditional facial, which typically involves manual extractions and exfoliation, a HydraFacial uses vortex technology to deliver serums to the skin. This means that a HydraFacial is generally gentler on the skin, and it can be more effective at addressing specific skin issues. Additionally, a HydraFacial can be adjusted to address your individual concerns and goals, making it a highly customizable treatment.

  • What are the types of HydraFacials?

There are three main types of HydraFacials: Signature, Deluxe, and Platinum.SignatureThe Signature HydraFacial is a 30-minute treatment that provides a thorough cleanse, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration. This option is ideal for those who are new to HydraFacials or simply want a quick and effective treatment.DeluxeThe Deluxe HydraFacial includes everything in the Signature HydraFacial, but this 40-minute treatment also includes a booster serum and LED light therapy. The Deluxe HydraFacial is ideal for those who are looking for a targeted treatment but don't necessarily need the comprehensive treatment offered in the next therapy.PlatinumThe Platinum HydraFacial is the most comprehensive option. This 60-minute facial includes everything in the Signature and Deluxe HydraFacials, but it also provides a lymphatic drainage massage. This treatment is ideal for those who are looking for a highly targeted, comprehensive treatment that will address all of their skin concerns.

  • What is it like to get a HydraFacial?

After the treatment, you can return to your regular activities without any downtime.

  • What results can I expect from a HydraFacial?

The results of a HydraFacial are immediate and noticeable. After the treatment, your skin should look and feel smoother, brighter, and more hydrated. Over time, you may also notice improvements in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and acne. Since the treatment is highly customizable, you can expect to see targeted improvements in the areas that are most concerning to you.Additionally, since a HydraFacial is a deep cleansing treatment, it can remove buildup and impurities from your skin, which can lead to a more even skin tone and texture over time. Regular HydraFacial treatments can help maintain these results and keep your skin looking healthy and radiant.

Microdermabrasion

What Is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a procedure that exfoliates and removes the superficial layer of dry, dead skin cells. Patients with fine lines, uneven pigmentation or clogged pores may benefit most from a series of microdermabrasion treatments.

Microdermabrasion works on all skin types and colors. It makes subtle changes, causing no skin color change or scarring. It is not effective for deeper problems such as scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, or deep acne scars.

Before Microdermabrasion — Poughkeepsie, NY — Wellness and Skincare Medical Center
After Microdermabrasion — Poughkeepsie, NY — Wellness and Skincare Medical Center

How Often You Should Get A Microdermabrasion Facial?

It depends on your skincare needs and finances. Most in-office procedures pack a bigger punch and treatments are often scheduled at 1-2 month intervals.

What Microdermabrasion Can Do?

  • Improve age spots and black heads
  • Improve hyperpigmentation (patches of darkened skin)
  • Exfoliate your skin, resulting in a refreshed appearance
  • Reduce fine lines
  • Reduce or eliminate enlarged pores

Microdermabrasion helps to thicken your collagen, which results in a younger looking complexion. Collagen is a protein in your skin that's abundant when you're a child and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, resulting in looser, uneven skin.

After Stretch Marks — Poughkeepsie, NY — Wellness and Skincare Medical Center
  • What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun. There are three basic types of chemical peels:

Superficial or lunchtime peel: Alpha-hydroxy acid or another mild acid is used to penetrate only the outer layer of skin to gently exfoliate it. The treatment is used to improve the appearance of mild skin discoloration and rough skin as well as to refresh the face, neck, chest or hands.

Medium peel: Glycolic or trichloroacetic acid is applied to penetrate the out and middle layers of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment is used to improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and moderate skin discoloration. It also can be used to smooth rough skin and treat some precancerous skin growths, i.e. actinic keratosis.

Deep peel: Tricholoracetic acid or phenol is applied to deeply penetrate the middle layer of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment removes moderate lines, age spots, freckles and shallow scars. Patients will see a dramatic improvement in skin appearance. The procedure is used on the face and only can be performed once.

  • What should first be done before considering a chemical peel?

A thorough evaluation is imperative before embarking upon a chemical peel.

  • When is a chemical peel appropriate?

Chemical peels are used to treat a number of conditions including:

  • Who is not a candidate for a chemical peel?

Generally light-haired and fair skinned people are the best candidates for chemical peel. The procedure does not work as well on dark-skinned patients. The procedure is not recommended for individuals with infections, active skin disease, cut or broken skin, sunburns or active Herpes simplex 1 sores. Other counter-indications include patients who are:

    • Nursing or pregnant.
    • Have taken Accutane in last six months.
    • Have psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis or rosacea.
    • Have used Retin-A, Renova, prescription skin care products, products that contain ascorbic acid, bleaching or skin-lightening agents or other acid-based products in the last 48 hours.
  • Are chemical peels painful?

Chemicals peels sting but do not cause a great deal of pain. The gentlest peels use alpha-hydroxy, glycolic, lactic or fruit acids are also gentle. They may cause stinging, redness, irritation and crusting but as the skin begins to adjust all these problems will lessen.

Trichloroacetic acids are used for stronger peelings. They remove wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems. Phenol is the strongest of all treatments and removes deep lines and wrinkles on the face. These type of treatments sting more than those with the gentler acids. After the treatment there may be redness, swelling and irritation but the use of creams and gels will reduce these effects. Also the doctor may prescribe medicines that will help relieve the problems after the peel.

  • What are the complications or potential side effects of a chemical peel?

    • Temporary or permanent change in skin color, particularly for women on birth control pills, who subsequently become pregnant or have a history of brownish facial discoloration.
    • Scarring
    • Reactivation of cold sores
  • What can I expect after having a chemical peel?

All peels require some follow-up care:

    • Superficial peels require one to seven days to heal. Treated skin will initially be red and may scale. Lotion or cream should be applied until the skin heals, followed by daily use of sunscreen. Makeup can usually be worn the next day.
    • Medium peels require seven to 14 days to heal. Treated skin will initially be red and swollen. Swelling worsens for the first 48 hours. Eyelids may swell shut. Blisters may form and break. Skin crusts and peels off in seven to 14 days. Skin must be soaked daily for a specified period, followed by ointment application. Antiviral medication is taken for 10 to 14 days. Mild lotion or cream may be applied. Avoid all sun exposure until healing is complete. Camouflage makeup may be worn after five to seven days. A follow-up appointment will be necessary to monitor progress.
    • Deep peels require 14 to 21 days to heal. The treated area will be bandaged. Skin must be soaked four to six times daily, followed by ointment application for the first 14 days. Afterwards a thick moisturizer is applied for the next 14 days. Antiviral medication is taken for 10 to 14 days. Mild lotion or cream may be applied. Avoid all sun exposure for three to six months. Camouflage makeup may be worn after 14 days. Several follow-up appointments will be necessary to monitor progress.

Sun exposure and smoking after a chemical peel must be avoided because they can cause unwanted side effects, including infection and scarring.

Microneedling Skinpen

Microneedling treatment is a minimally-invasive procedure for facial rejuvenation. It employs tiny, sharp needles to create small holes in the skin to induce skin injury response.

As the fine needles puncture the skin, they create channels or micro-wounds that trigger the body injury response, a natural healing process, to fill the channels with new collagen and elastin, which leads to improved skin texture, firmness and hydration.

There are two types of microneedling: cosmetic microneedling and medical microneedling. Costmetic microneedling can be performed by herself or himself or by the esthetician. However, Medical microneedling has to be done by physician. The needle for cosmetic microneedling is shorter than the one for medical microneedling.

The length of needling is 0.5 mm or less. It can stimulate the superficial layer, epidermis and upper-dermis to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The length of needling is 0.5 mm longer. It penetrate deeper layer of skin, deep dermis. It is not only the option for the treatment of fine line and wrinkles, but also the treatment for acne scar or other type of scars.

The medical microneedling treatment uses a pen-shaped electric medical device that employs about a dozen fine needles to penetrate the surface of the skin at a very high speed to rebuild elasticity and reduce the size of pores. The needles break down old scar tissue and stimulate skin cells to proliferate, resulting in the formation of new tissue layers of elastin and collagen fibers, and in the formation of new capillaries, which improve blood supply.

Medical Microneedling is vert effective for aging concerns such as wrinkles, lines, folds and crows feet. Scars and stretch marks can improve from treatments due to production of collagen and elastin. Pigmentation can also be improved. Skin needling can also have visible improvement of skin radiance, skin firmness and compactness.

The microneedling treatments can be repeated every 2 to 4 weeks for fine wrinkle treatment and it can be every 4 to 6 weeks for scar treatment.

Prp Microneedling

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Microneedling is a non-surgical procedure for rejuvenating the skin. With this treatment patients receive infusion of their own blood components, PRP through multiple tiny openings made with a special device.

A tube of the blood is drawn and then processed to harvest PRP with growth factors. A thin layer a numbing cream is applied to the face to ensure comfort during the procedure. The PRP is applied topically followed by micro-needling of the skin with a microneedling device, a process in which the skin is perforated with near microscopic holes, which allows for a transdermal delivery of the PRP. The growth factors in the PRP re-energize cells to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while improving the skin's tone and texture. Following the micro-needling, a second layer of PRP is applied allowing for maximum benefit.

Many skin issues can be improved with PRP microneedling:

  • Skin texture, color and tone inconsistencies
  • Broken capillaries and large pores
  • Scars, such as acne, burn or surgical scars
  • Aging and skin discoloration resulting from sun damage
  • Fine wrinkles and skin thinning

The treatment can be repeated three times over the course of several months. Patients may choose to repeat this type of skin rejuvenation from time to time in order to maintain ideal skin health.
